Arts for All

The ARTS for ALL program is made up of one-of a kind products that offer individuals of all challenges an opportunity for creative expression through arts and mobility. Art tools are designed so that participants with limited movement or lack of fine motor skills can be successful in using what mobility they have to create, paint, draw, print, and more. The tools incorporate the use of one ’s wheelchair, walker, arms, or legs as part of the creative process. Individuals can make prints, draw with chalk, or use the pogo paint poles, all while working on mobility skills and coordination, creativity, expression, and self esteem.

The only requirements are a space - hallway, driveway, classroom, gym, rec room - and the desire to have your clients or students move, create, and explore. The Arts for All tools have been successfully used by 2 year olds, nursing home residents in wheelchairs, persons with multiple challenges and 23 year old curiosity seekers.

Most of the Art for All tools are based on the print making process. Participants first create a design out of foam pieces. If a person unable to use scissors the foam is easily torn by hand. Then the design is attached to tag board with an adhesive. Water based paints are applied to the foam using a rubber spatula, which is easier to control than a small paint brush. The tagboard stamp is wrapped around an art roller, which can be pushed across the floor by foot or wheelchair. In addition to the art rollers, the Art for All library also has Pogo Paint Poles and the Chalk, Walk and Roll tool for sidewalk chalk drawing.

The best way to experience the Arts for All program is to host an Arts Day or festival using the tools. Arts Days can be held for groups of 5 to 100. Arts Days can last from 2 hours to a full day.
