Bio
Dez Merworth (she/they) is a professional artist with over a decade of experience and holds a BFA in Fine Arts from RMCAD. They have also studied art therapy and mental health psychology and worked in a community studio at Naropa University.
Their work is informed by both personal and professional experience with disability, including working with individuals with traumatic brain injuries, late-in-life disability diagnoses, and neurodivergent communities. As a neurodivergent artist, they value creative spaces that bring together people with different backgrounds to build a bold, connected, and supportive community.

Why Access Gallery?
The wide array of artists and their unique backgrounds is what makes Access Gallery special. I believe people create the magic in a space, and we are lucky to know so many incredible individuals who shape this community.
Much of my work focuses on bridging the gap between the contemporary art world and the progressive arts movement, where artists with disabilities are valued as peers. Access Gallery plays an important role in pushing that work forward and creating opportunities for artists who are too often left out of the conversation. I am continually inspired by the work being made here and driven to help more people experience it.
