History of the
Art-o-Mat
Art-o-Mat began in 1997 when artist Clark Whittington transformed a retired cigarette machine into an unexpected way to discover and collect original art. The first machine was installed in a café in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where it quickly became a permanent fixture.
Today, Art-o-Mat machines feature work by artists from across the country. Access Gallery has hosted Denver’s first Art-o-Mat and has been a proud supporter for more than 10 years. Through the Art-o-Mat network, Access Gallery artists have opportunities to showcase their artwork in machines across the country.
Each piece offers a small, accessible way to experience original art and connect with the artist behind it.
